We enter into memorandums of understanding with various Victorian Government agencies. We also enter into memorandums with agencies who share an important working relationship with us.
Memorandums of understanding
We use these memorandums as a way to make our outcomes more efficient. They help improve communications and regulatory processes, and reduce duplication of work across agencies.
Australian Energy Regulator
This memorandum of understanding seeks to:
- foster a cooperative working relationship between the parties
- avoid unnecessary overlap or conflict between the parties' respective performance of their functions and exercise of their powers
- provide for an information sharing arrangement between the parties in accordance with section 60E of the Essential Services Commission Act and
- provide for a process for referrals between the parties.
Consumer Affairs Victoria
This memorandum of understanding seeks to:
- foster a cooperative working relationship between the parties
- ensure that the regulatory and decision making processes of the parties are closely integrated and better informed
- avoid overlap or conflict between the parties' respective performance of their functions and exercise of their powers
- provide for an information sharing arrangement between the parties in accordance with section 60E of the Essential Services Commission Act and section 133 of the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act.
Energy and Water Ombudsman Victoria
This memorandum of understanding seeks to promote effective communication, information sharing, cooperation and coordination between ourselves and the Energy and Water Ombudsman (Victoria) in performing our respective roles and functions in Victoria's energy and water industries.
Energy Safe Victoria
This memorandum of understanding seeks to:
- foster a cooperative working relationship between the parties
- ensure that the regulatory and decision-making processes of the parties are closely integrated and better informed
- avoid conflict between the parties' respective performance of their functions and exercise of their powers
- provide for an information sharing arrangement between the parties in accordance with section 60E of the Essential Services Commission Act
- provide for a process for referrals between the parties.
Solar Victoria
This memorandum of understanding seeks to:
- foster a cooperative working relationship between the parties
- provide for an information sharing arrangement between the parties in accordance with section 60E of the Essential Services Commission Act
- provide for a process for referrals between the parties.
Sustainability Victoria
This memorandum of understanding seeks to:
- ensure that the regulatory decision-making processes of both parties are closely integrated and better informed
- avoid overlap or conflict between regulatory schemes affecting regulated industries
- provide for information sharing, promote the adoption of a best practice approach to regulation
- help ensure that we are in a position to have regard to relevant environmental legislation and regulatory practices in decision making.
