Powercor penalty notices 2021 (planned interruptions)
Powercor has paid $250,000 after we issued 25 penalty notices on 30 November 2021.
We issued the penalty notices to Powercor for the alleged failure to notify customers of a planned interruption in March 2021.
Powercor planned an outage for maintenance purposes in Indented Head, however failed to notify 162 customers. One of the customer's premises was registered with Powercor as requiring life support equipment that relied on electricity supply.
The outage lasted for 27 minutes, however Powercor restored power after being notified by the affected customers.
The Electricity Distribution Code requires distribution businesses to give customers at least four business days’ notice of planned power outages.
